Bridesmaid Dresses for Wedding

How to Choose the Right Bridesmaid Dress for Your Wedding

When choosing a bridesmaid dress, it is the bride's privilege to select the color and type of fabric of bridesmaid dresses. It should complement the bride's gown, but it should also be comfortable and stylish. Bridesmaids' style, color preferences, their figure types as well as their budgets should also be considered. A-line dresses look great on all different body shapes and sizes and are very popular. The hottest styles right now are two-tone, two-piece floor length styles, mostly sleeveless. Also very popular are column style floor-length dresses, with halter-top or straps crisscrossing over the back. Another big trend is having a shawl accompany the dress, especially bare-shoulder styles. Silver and pale gray are especially in style for bridesmaid dresses at the moment, as well as pastel colors, pale yellows, sand, and taupe. There is also a big trend toward jewel colors, such as emerald, burgundy and tile. Black is always in style although it's not a great color in terms of bridesmaid dresses. In addition, many of the designers today are also suggesting using better quality fabrics for bridesmaid dresses like silk, silk chiffon and satin, velvet and crepe. "The key for bridesmaids is to keep it simple and easy to wear," says Vivian Diamond, designer of the Dessy Collection (www.dessy.com). "There are so many different body types to consider." It's a big plus that today's bridesmaid's dresses are a modern wear-again part of a wardrobe and have a post-wedding life perfect for a number of future dressed-up events. A smart solution would be to pick a manufacturer that offers different styles in the same fabric and color and letting each bridesmaid chose the style they look best in. You could apply some simple rules - no dress above the knee, or no strapless dress (or whatever look you want for your wedding). Another popular and pretty trend, especially for spring and summer weddings, is a "color run". That means that each bridesmaid wears a different color of the same dress. The dress, in fact, is one of the season's most appealing fashion statements, and both the bride and her attendants will delight in the selection. Whether sleeveless, off-the-shoulder, slip dress or two-piece dress, there's a look to suit every taste and to highlight the best features of each member of the bridal party.
